Psychologist - ICU at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley, Wellington Hospital

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital and Hutt Hospital

Contract: Permanent, Part time (0.65 FTE / 26 hours per week)

About the Role 

This role is based pre-dominantly in ICU at Wellington Hospital, with 1 day per week working at Hutt Hospital. 

This position involves provision of high quality clinical psychology support and related services within the Wellington and Hutt ICU service at Capital Coast and Hutt Valley, ensuring patients' needs are met in a culturally, clinically, and  legally safe manner.

About the Team/Service Location 

This role reports to the Wellington Social Work team and will work with the Wellington and Hutt ICU teams.

The Wellington Social Work team is part of the Inpatient Allied Health Teams, which provides services to people of all ages in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. 

The Inpatient Allied Health teams are comprised of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Therapists, Dietitians, Social Workers, Psychologists, Allied Health Assistants and Transitional Support Assistants. Wherever possible, the disciplines work closely with each other and with nursing and medical colleagues to provide integrated care for the people we see. The team has strong relationships with other areas of the District Health Board and NGO providers, including community and outpatient services, and NASC agencies.

About you 

  • Minimum of 2 to 7 years post graduate experience, 
  • New Zealand Registered Psychologist with Annual Practicing Certificate.
  • Team player, able to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Experience of working with patients with complex needs 
  • At least 1 year of experience working within a DHB or other health setting
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
