About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the retinal photoscreening team, completing patient assessments, taking digital images of patients eyes, as well as some administrative duties. This is a mobile service travelling to a new area each day across the Waikato region. There will be the occasional requirement for an overnight stay.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Conduct retinal screening procedures in accordance with clinical protocols and best practice guidelines.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including blood pressure monitoring, diabetic foot assessments, and eye health evaluations.
• Review and document laboratory results, escalate any concerns.
• Provide patient education on diabetes management, retinal health, foot care, and lifestyle modifications.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up.
• Complete administrative duties, including patient registration, record management, data entry, and reporting.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained.

About the Service

Te Whatu Ora Waikato Regional Diabetes Service provides secondary level care to those within the Waikato Region. This expands as far as Coromandel, Taumarunui, Te Kauwhata and the Raglan coast. We have a large multi-disciplinary team and promote a positive approach to teamwork. We are committed to and support the learning and development of our staff to give the best possible care to our patients.

Skills and experience required to be considered for the role:

• Current New Zealand Practicing certificate
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of computer systems
• Office and administration skills
• Current full drivers licence
• Ability to apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi to improve health outcomes and equity for Māori.
