Advanced Speech Language Therapist - Whangarei at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau, Northland

About the Role

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Speech Language Therapist to join our Speech Language Therapy Services at Whangarei Hospital. This is an exciting role that will provide advanced evidenced-based care and advice to patients and whanau.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing advanced clinical practice across Whangarei Hospital inpatient wards for Speech Language Therapy
  • Assisting in the development of policies and protocols within this profession as needed
  • Providing clinical teaching to patients, students, team members, and other health professionals when relevant

The hours of work are between 8am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. There will be a requirement to work on a shared on call roster to cover public holidays (approx. 1-2 per year). Travel throughout Northland to the Rural Hospitals may be required occasionally.

About you

As an Advanced Clinician, you must have the ability to provide clinical leadership, judgement and decision making effectively and in a safe manner. You will also bring your effective time management and prioritisation skills.

  • Hold a relevant qualification and is recognised by the NZ Speech Language Therapists Association (NZSTA)
  • Current NZSTA membership
  • Minimum of 6 years post graduate experience with at least 2 years in the area of specialty.
  • Current and full NZ Drivers Licence
  • Tracheostomy trained
  • Level 4 or above FEES training
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership in current or previous roles
