About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As the Work Design Lead, you will lead the deliberate redesign of work across ACC's Longer-Term Horizon (LTH) programme, bringing a connected enterprise view of future work, workforce implications and service delivery. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture (Future Work), you will translate future operating model and technology decisions into practical workflows, role designs, decision points, accountabilities and ways of working. Working across multiple transformation streams, you will help ACC make deliberate choices about:

  • Where work should remain human-led
  • Where technology, automation and AI can add the most value
  • How work should be redesigned alongside technology
  • How roles, capabilities and workforce requirements evolve
  • What future ways of working will best support our people and clients

This is a unique opportunity to influence how ACC delivers services and contributes to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between.

The appointing salary for this role is $138,301 - $178,978 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.


About you | Mōu

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in work design, organisational design, operating model design, service design or enterprise transformation within a large and complex organisation.
  • Deep understanding of how people, process, technology, workforce settings and organisational performance intersect.
  • Experience translating enterprise strategy and future-state design into practical workforce, role design and operating model decisions.
  • Knowledge of AI, automation, digital enablement and technology-enabled transformation.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills, including experience working with senior leaders and executives.
  • Exceptional systems thinking capability with the ability to turn ambiguity into clear options, trade-offs and decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex recommendations to support senior decision-making.
  • Demonstrated application and leadership of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the design of policies, systems and organisational approaches.
  • A collaborative and adaptable leadership style with sound judgement, resilience and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
