• Provide active and supportive Haematology care to patients within the Northern Region Catchment Area
• Permanent fulltime Nursing position available 1.0 FTE

The Haematology Service at Auckland City Hospital is comprised of a 30-bed inpatient unit including 15 bone marrow transplantation (BMT) beds, a Haematology Day Stay Unit, 8 bedded Haematolgoy/Oncology Ward and outpatient clinics. The regional BMT service covers Northland and the greater Auckland region for autologous and allograft transplants and includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes and Tairawhiti DHBs for allogeneic transplants.

About the Role

As a RN Coordinator SCT, you will :

Work collaboratively with senior nurses within the SCT team to streamline the pre-transplant workup process for recipients. This role is pivotal in enhancing continuity of care throughout the transplant journey, while also strengthening communication, education, and support for patients and their whānau.

Coordinate and deliver care for patients undergoing transplantation and cellular therapies, ensuring services are safe, evidence-based, and centred on the needs of patients and their whānau. Your strong interpersonal, organisational, and clinical skills will enable you to work effectively and innovatively with the SCT team to optimise healthcare delivery, support timely treatment outcomes, and promote clinical excellence.

In addition, you will provide leave cover for colleagues as required, contributing to the smooth operation and continuity of the service. As you become established and confident in your RN Coordinator responsibilities, you will have opportunities to further develop your SCT expertise by working closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) SCT team, supporting both service delivery and your ongoing professional growth.

In this role, you will:

Coordinate with SCT team and provide clinical administrative support in pre-transplant work up phase.

Your tasks and responsibilities include and not limited to:

• Coordinating autologous and allogeneic SCT workups with the SCT CNS and SMO.
• Managing transplant protocols, scheduling, investigations, consent, education, and pre-admission processes.
• Coordinating HLA typing, donor searches, NZBS/NZBMDR documentation, collections, harvests, and DLI requests.
• Liaising with multidisciplinary teams to plan and deliver transplant treatment.
• Maintaining transplant databases, support SCT meetings, and oversee post-transplant follow-up requirements.
• Contributing to quality improvement, incident management, workload coordination, and continuity of care across the SCT pathway.

Upskilling and training: Individualised plan will be formulated.

About You

You are an excellent communicator, adaptable and work well within a team.

• Registered Nurse with current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate
• Speciality experience
• Proficient Level 3-4 or Senior Nurse PDRP
