About the Role

Be part of a new initiative strengthening allied health support within mental health inpatient services. As an Allied Health Care Assistant, you will support Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Social Workers through delegated tasks that contribute to patient recovery, functional independence, and overall wellbeing in a complex inpatient environment.

About the Team/Service/Location

Te Whare Maiangiangi Mental Health and Addictions Inpatient Unit at Tauranga Hospital provides care for individuals experiencing acute mental health needs. The multidisciplinary team includes nurses, allied health professionals, and medical staff working together to deliver high quality, recovery focused care. The service is grounded in strong teamwork, support, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for Tangata Whaiora. Based in Tauranga, the role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive clinical environment while enjoying a vibrant coastal lifestyle.

About You

You will be a proactive and compassionate Allied Health Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. You work well within a team, adapt quickly to changing patient needs, and bring a strong sense of purpose to supporting recovery and wellbeing. You are motivated to grow your skills across multiple disciplines and contribute to the development of a new support role within the mental health services.

What you will bring:

• NZQA Level 4 or equivalent (Mental Health Support/Work/Health Care Assistant)
• Experience as an Allied Health Assistant or Health Care Assistant, preferably within an acute hospital setting
• Ability to support a range of Allied Health disciplines through delegated tasks
• Strong cultural awareness and commitment to equitable care
• Effective communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary environment
• Adaptability and willingness to respond to patient and service needs
• Interest in contributing to the development of a new allied health support role
