We are seeking a Nurse Consultant for a fixed term opportunity (until April 2nd 2027) in our Manawa Awhi / Nursing Development unit.

The Nurse Consultant Practice, Policy and Improvement role facilitates the design and implementation of initiatives to improve the quality, safety, and experience of care for patients, whānau, and staff. Important Skills
- Broad nursing practice background, practicing at Proficient, Expert or Senior Nurse level
- Post graduate Certificate/Diploma in nursing
- New Zealand Nursing Registration and current APC
- Knowledge of nursing professional issues
- Demonstrate an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in your role
- Experience in delivering and/or facilitating education and/or workshops. Enjoy working as part of a team, this is a shared role
- Previous experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Ko Awatea LEARN etc. will be advantageous in this role. Alternatively, being quick to learn how to use technology will be valuable
Responsibilities:
A key responsibility for this role is to promote, facilitate and coordinate a culture of nursing excellence and continuous quality improvement throughout Te Toka Tumai currently using the Releasing Time to Care framework.
You will need to have good leadership skills, be able to bring your problem-solving and change management skills to multidisciplinary teams, work closely with clinicians, patients and stakeholders, and coach others who want to develop change techniques. Strong research skills are necessary for gathering and analysing both quantitative and qualitative data and contributing to best practice and policy development/reviews.
Ideally you will enjoy and have confidence with teaching and facilitation for small groups. You will have a passion for improving nursing care, learning new things and delivering best practice.
