About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced leader to join the Radiology Service at Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty. This is a District Wide senior leadership position, providing operational management and strategic direction across the non-clinical functions supporting clinical Radiology teams.

This is a 6 month fixed-term, or secondment opportunity until 1 June 2027.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Radiology Service located at Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospital is a dynamic and patient-focused department delivering a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional imaging services to the community. Our multidisciplinary team includes radiologists, registrars, nurses, medical imaging technologists (MITs), sonographers, trainee sonographers, healthcare assistants, orderlies, students, and dedicated administrative staff, all working collaboratively to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.

Our service provides both inpatient and outpatient imaging across a broad range of modalities, including CT, ultrasound, general X-ray (fixed and mobile), fluoroscopy, and interventional procedures. We also provide 24-hour access to CT and general X-ray services, ensuring timely imaging support for emergency, acute, and inpatient care.

About you

Proven experience as a leader in a large complex organisation is required, experience in a health setting is desirable.

As Radiology Manager, you will lead a highly skilled and engaged team, driving service excellence, innovation, quality improvement, and workforce development. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future direction of radiology services, foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and make a meaningful impact on healthcare delivery.

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strategic planning and service development
  • Operational and resource management

Experience

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a healthcare environment
  • Demonstrated success in improving clinical services and operational performance
  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes
  • Proven experience in workforce planning, recruitment, and staff performance management
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and departmental operations
