About the role

We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and experienced nurse to join our friendly team as a Nurse Specialist in a permanent, part-time (0.5 FTE) capacity.

This role is an advanced practice specialty role. The Nurse Specialist is an expert in assessments, diagnostic reasoning and have specialist knowledge of complex conditions which is central to the role. Case management and coordination of the patient and their whanau with health professionals, inpatient areas and intersectorially is integral.

About the Service

Paediatric Neurology is the branch of medicine that diagnoses and manages babies, children and teenagers who have disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. You will be part of a comprehensive and innovative MDT co-ordinating care for both inpatients and out patients often for life long disorders or until transition to Adult services.

You will use expert assessment skills to support whānau with symptom management in both chronic and acute neurological conditions. You will support health professionals, community providers and schools to enable rangatahi and mokopuna to live their best life with chronic disorders.

About you

To be successful you will:

• Be an experienced Paediatric registered nurse with relevant neurology experience
• Have registration with NZ Nursing Council with current APC
• Have proficient or expert level Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio or equivalent
• Preferably have a Masters degree or a post graduate diploma
• Have experience in a leadership role with a strong commitment to quality healthcare
• Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a bi-cultural environment.
